ROFL

I admit, I couldnt find a better title.

The newspapers here have turned into comic magazines. Literally. There's something in the Telegraph today about two boys being taken to their dad's workplace. Which is fine, only until you know that the hallowed workplace happened to be an ATC office at JFK. The kids were being directed by their dad to read out messages and stuff, some of which turned out to be really hilarious. For one, the boys bade 'adios amigo' to a Mexican flight, and was involved in a friendly chit chat with other pilots. "Awesome job" was once such remark. Sounds cool? Well apparently not. The concerned department in the US isnt amused. The employee has been suspended and further action is likely to be taken soon. Yeah yeah, a rather boring climax. But then again, they couldnt have given the kid a promotion, right?

Then comes our very own sex-guru (aka spiritual leader), Swami Nithyananda. Caught red handed in 'the act' involving a B-grade actress of the 90s, the guru is now untraceable. Some people including famous ones like Shekhar Kapur whose blog I follow argue that its because of our perception of the concept of sex, that we are finding it difficult to digest this sort of a thing. "So a Guru has had sex. Who decided that he/she must not ? The Guru or you ?" Kapur says. (His blog post can be found here)
I couldnt agree with you more Mr. Kapur. It high time that we had some sex gurus who would give us a pictorial (in this case videographic) guide to good sex, that too with an actress.
Yes, he has betrayed the trust of his followers (many of whom I hear happen to be celebs and whos who in various fields), but hey, he did do something. Guys, we now have a guru who is man enough to give us sex lessons! Pity there'll be only one episode of his tutorial class. The Telegraph reported that CDs of Nithyananda's sexcapade is now selling for 80-100 bucks. Dude! Gimme a break okay. A Swami having sex, for 80 bucks? There's far better stuff on the internet for free! In this age of recession, learn to save the moolah folks.

Lindsay Lohan's 'tour' of India

So now we have Lindsay Lohan in India. And why is she here? Apparently she wants to solve or lets say highlight the trafficking problem in this country. Really? I mean, seriously, dont we have any better person to do this job? How on earth did BBC come to the conclusion that Lindsay Lohan is the perfect role model! Oh well, I guess the BBC just hopped in on Lohan's flight, or maybe she has convinced the media giant of her 'noble intentions'. Anyway, thats not the point.

My files (found the original; it's not much be...Image via WikipediaPoint is, screwed up people in the West, mostly celebs (or pseudo celebs like Lohan), think that all problems of the world are either in Africa or in India (ask her who the Indian Prime Minister/President is and I'm sure she'll fumble for the rest of her life; ask her what she thinks of India and I'm sure she'll come up with nothing more than 'curry', and maybe now, 'trafficking'). And they think they are the saviours of the planet and could come here and 'do good' and serve humanity whenever they are in trouble in their home country, and 'experience life on the other side of the fence', and then...? Erm, I guess they go back to the US, arrange for expensive interviews with media giants and somewhat recover their public image. Erm wait! I forgot to mention about the autobiography bit! So, then they come up with these 'great' tell-all autobiographies where they brag about saving people's lives, helping others, while carefully forgetting about their own messed up ones!

And who exactly is Lindsay Lohan? An actress? Hell...the 'dance-around-the-tree' Bollywood actresses do a far better job at acting than she! A socialite? Erm...what exactly is a socialite? I guess someone who has nothing else to do apart from partying, doing drugs and well..in Lohan's case, having doubts about one's sexual orientation! For heaven's sake she cant make out what sex she gets attracted to! (I have nothing against homosexuals but I hate people who consider it a fad to be called a gay or a lesbian) One day she gets attracted to Samantha Ronson (her mom approves their relationship and stuff) and then she decides 'oh wait, maybe I'm taking this too far, lets get hooked up with someone in a better position to boost my non-existent career, someone like erm..Leonardo Dicaprio?' And then the stories of her and Britney Spears' crazy night-outs are legendary.

Having Lindsay Lohan as a do-gooder in India is almost like asking Amy Winehouse to be the brand ambassador for drug de-addiction campaign! For god's sake please let us have some 'real' people do the job than wannabe stars or starlets having no intention but to restore their long extinguished careers.

Where has the Pottermania gone?

Harry Potter (character)Image via WikipediaLumos!

Its the Potter season again. The sixth instalment of the Harry Potter series releases this week. One might ask, does one feel the Pottermania this time around? I dont, I'll be honest. Dunno why, maybe coz I've moved on since Harry Potter, maybe coz there are no more new Potter books to keep me busy anymore, maybe coz loads of other cool movies are releasing at the same time, or maybe a combination of all those reasons!

The thing is, most of the actors in the Harry Potter series have acted in other movies/tv shows. Now by doing those, they might have proven themselves to be versatile actors, but to crazy Potter fans (of which I might include myself, although I could well use the term "ex-crazy fan") it has spoiled the "magic" and enchantment of the entire series.

I really dont think this Potter movie is gonna be nearly as successful or as big a BO hit as its predecessors. The potter magic has simply vanished into thin air!
